Time Is On My Side !

Monday, March 26, 2012

Ohhhh Yea!!! Time its on my side, yes it is.... I use to love that song!!!  I think I was in my late teens when that came out.  You know the time in your life when you think you have all the time in the world.  Time when you think things will be like this forever (you'll never get old) you will live forever, all is right in the world kind of time.

Now, I have joined the crowd that asks "Where has all the time gone"?  "Time goes by so fast".  "I wish I had more hours in the day".  Looking back I see that I have wasted too much of that precious time.

I sometimes feel sad that I cannot turn back the hands of time, do some things over, say some things I didn't say, but that time is gone and today is another chance to make good use of the precious time I have at my fingertips.

I pray every morning that I would not waste a single moment of this day I have before me.  That doesn't mean I have to be on the go every minute of the day, but that I would be grateful for the beauty around me, the people, the sounds, the time I have to cherish each and every day.

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR TODAY?

Psalm 9:9  The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in 'TIMES' of trouble.

Psalm 31:15  My "TIMES" are in your hands.

Psalm 62:8  Trust in Him at all "TIMES"

Spring Has Sprung ! I'm Pretty Sure!

Monday, March 19, 2012

One of my favorite comic strips is "Mutts."  This mornings newspaper comics had a picture of the little dog standing on the porch, ears straight up in the air, the sun starting to rise...the words were:

Poor, dear, silly spring preparing her annual surprise - Wallace Stevens

I've got to say that this spring has truly been a really big surprise.  The middle of March and just about everything in my yard either is budding or has opened.  I truly could do this every year.  I am not a winter fan.

Maybe one of the reasons besides the temperature that we like spring so much is the surprise of it all.  The first bloom of a daffodil, the spirea that one day is bare, the next green with leaves.  The colors, the sounds, the feeling of life happening all around us.

I believe spring is Gods way of saying I'm still here, I have everything under control.  I have created this for you, everything is new again.

Take time today to look around and see that the Lord is good.

Psalm 34:8  Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him.

1Timothy 4:4  For everything God created is good.

Have a wonderful full of surprises spring day!

Someday My Prince Will Come!

Monday, March 12, 2012

Did you ever play dress up as a little girl?  Were you a princess waiting for your prince charming to ride in and carry you off into the sunset?

I remember a friend and I would put on those plastic high heel shoes you could buy at the store just for such an occasion of playing dress up.  Long dresses, fake fur, ribbons, jewelry and of course the lipstick.  We would pretend a huge limo would pick us up to take us to some magical place, where of course our prince charming waited.

As we would walk into the huge ballroom (which I might add not so gracefully, those shoes were killers, they would roll one's ankle) that wouldn't stop us, we didn't care, we were the prettiest girls at the ball, and of course we each found our prince charming only to live happily ever after.

As I grew up I discovered life is not a magical place and prince charmings are few and far between, I didn't feel pretty anymore.  As the insecurities started to replace the magical thinking my search was on.  Not for just a prince charming although he was on the list, after all he would definitely make me feel better about myself.  The search for the right job, great clothes, fast cars were a definite "have to have" if I was going to be someone important in my own eyes and others.

The years of searching were all in vain, I had some of the best jobs, the designer clothes, the fast cars and yes, those who looked like a prince charming, but nothing made me feel good about myself, something was always missing.

Then one day in a time of great distress I found my prince who rescued me, loved me, changed me, my life has never been the same.

Many years have gone by, but my prince has remained the same yesterday, today and forever.....

Hebrews 13:8  Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.

He loves me with an unconditional love.....

Psalm 63:3  Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you, I will praise you as long as I live and in your name I will lift up my hands.

He has rescued me.....

1Thessalonians 1:10  Jesus who rescues us from the coming wrath.

His kingdom is not of this world.....

John 18:36  Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world."

Revelation 21: 18,19,21
verse 18  The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass.

verse 19  The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone.

verse 21  The twelve gates were twelve pearls each gate made of a single pearl, the great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass.

Yes, it is true we can  "Live Happily Ever After"

1John 2:17  The world and its desires pass away but the man who does the will of God lives forever.

THE END!

What Are You Wearing?

Monday, March 5, 2012

Monday is the day I change this blog.  I really try to find out what it is that God would want me to blog about.  Some days come easier than others, today would be one of those.

Have you noticed that this world is changing and not for the good?

Matthew 24:4  Jesus Himself warns us. " You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom.  There will be famines and earthquakes in various places, many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, many false prophets will appear and deceive many people, because of the increase of wickedness the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved."

These are not my words, they come straight from the mouth of Jesus.  The most important verse in all of this...but he who stands firm to the end.  That is where the question "What are you wearing?" has great importance.

Ephesians 6:12 "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."

Here it is: Make Note, This Is Important!!!

Therefore, put on the full armour of God so that when the day of evil comes you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything to stand.  Stand firm then with the :
Belt of Truth around your waist (Word of God)

Breastplate of Righteousness in place (Morally Right)

Sandals of Peace, with the readiness that comes from the Gospel ( Peacemaker)

Shield of Faith, in which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one (Faith that God alone is sufficient)

Helmet of Salvation, protects your mind (Mind of Christ)

Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

It is obvious in so many ways not only from scripture, but as we each walk our daily lives that we are in a battle.  A smart soldier never shows up without his uniform of protection and his weapons.

WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?

1Peter 5:8  Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
